Beatriz Shirley was born in Mexico City, MX. She collaborated with Mexican deputies on political campaigns and administrations.
Beatriz emigrated to the United States in 1999 to pursue a better future, with her family, she found home in Gainesville, GA where she felt immediately like home. A few years later she incorporated her knowledge in journalism and communication sciences to collaborate in a magazine project called “Latino Link” supported by the Gainesville Times.
In conjunction with multiple organizations in the Hall and Forsyth County areas, Beatriz Shirley was part of a community association called “Hands across the community,” that created various events for the local Hispanic population to inform them of the services and resources available for them and their families in the area.
As part of her community collaboration she has worked with various non- profit organizations such as the YMCA and Gainesville Housing Authority, as well as volunteered for local churches and the Boy Scouts of America, to support the bilingual services and Hispanic culture.
Beatriz brings to the Hispanic Alliance GA, La Alianza, her knowledge of the Hispanic community and her enthusiasm to see Gainesville’s Hispanic community, united and thriving under one organization.
